The procedure to apply is as follows:

Fill the application form online. Once the "Submit"
button has been clicked, a PDF version of the filled-out
form will be generated.

Please print the PDF document and (a) sign at the designated
place, (b) attach recent passport-size photograph, (c)
enclose Demand Draft and the required supporting documents
(attested copies of all Mark sheets, Certificates, Age
proof, Caste certificate etc.,).
- Mail
the completed set to the following address: The Head,
Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras, Chennai 600036.
Please write " Application for Ph.D. Program"
clearly on top of the envelope.
- Please
ensure that all details in the application form are accurate.
This information is used to shortlist candidates called
for Interview. IIT Madras reserves the right to reject any
application containing inaccurate information at any stage
of the application process. Your application will not be
processed if

DD for Rs. 250/- (Rs. 125/- in the case of SC/ST/PD/Female
candidates) drawn in favour of "IIT Madras"

Structure
of the Program
The Ph.D. program include the following:
1. Coursework: Minimum of 4 courses for Ph.D. with good academic
performance.
2. Thesis: High quality research resulting in publications in
reputed international.
The Ph.D. program includes a comprehensive written and oral
examination in addition to the above. A pass in this examination
is mandatory.

Selection Process
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of norms to be
formulated by the Departmental Consultative Committee, from
time to time. The shortlisted candidates will be called for
an Interview.
The UGC syllabus for M.Sc. program is recommended for
Interview. There is no written test.
